FAQ
What do you consider a well balanced meal?
I consider a well balanced meal to be consisted of the following food groups: grains, vegetables, fruit, protein and dairy. You must get enough of each food group, but not too much. Try to get the right amount of sodium and calories. Try to limit your portion size.
How much sodium, calories etc. should I intake?
The FDA recommends that we take in no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium (if you're a kid: around 1,500 for kids 9-18 and the upper limit is around 2,200) and for a grown person, no more than 2,000. Just remember that all of the calories you eat should be spend. Even if you don't use 30 calories, that 30 calories is stored in fat and over time it gets bigger and bigger. For a specific result just for you, go to supertracker.usda.gov or consult your doctor.
What's an example of a healthy meal?
A healthy meal should have all of the food groups, but not too much.
Breakfast:
You could have a lettuce wrapped apple with cheese inside and some protein rich walnuts. Simple, fast, and healthy!
Lunch:
You could have a sandwich with bread (of course), fish, your favorite leaves, tomatoes and a slice of cheese. Fish is also high in omega-3s.
Dinner:
You could have a small steak (not a large one!), with a mixed salad consisting of leaves, and your favorite fruit mixed with quinoa (look it up here if you don't know what it is) all washed down with a cup of milk.
Where can I learn more?
As everyone says, Google it or talk to your doctor. Remember, you don't have to freak out about it, just be in the know and make changes to your diet accordingly.
